Golden Yarrow (Eriophyllum confertiflorum) is a rare, sun-loving wildflower native to California and Baja California. Known for its brilliant golden blooms and silvery foliage, this resilient plant thrives in dry, well-drained soil and full sun—making it a perfect fit for desert gardens and drought-tolerant landscapes.
It grows in upright clumps up to 2 feet tall and wide, forming dense clusters of 20–30 flower heads per stem. Each bloom is a composite of tiny daisy-like florets, attracting bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects throughout its long blooming season—from early spring to late summer.
Golden Yarrow is not to be confused with yellow Achillea, a European import. This native variety is fast-growing, deer-resistant, and deeply rooted in chaparral and coastal sage plant communities. It’s often found blooming after wildfires, symbolizing renewal and resilience.
